LONDON: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas on Thursday became the 14th Pakistan bowler to take 900 first-class wickets against England during the second Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Abbas, 36, reached the milestone after removing both England openers, Emilio Gay and Ben Duckett, early in the innings.
Gay was caught brilliantly by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan down the leg side after scoring eight. Meanwhile, Ben Duckett was trapped lbw for 17 off 20 balls.
Duckett’s wicket entered Abbas into an elite list of Pakistan bowlers taking 900 first-class wickets. Former captain Imran Khan tops the list of Pakistan pacers with most wickets in FC.
The right-arm pacer made his Test debut in 2017 and has picked up 119 wickets in 31 matches at an average of 22.84, including seven five-wicket hauls and a 10-wicket haul.
