MCC awards Mohammad Hafeez with Honorary Life Membership

LONDON: Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez was named in the list of renowned men and women cricketers, awarded with honorary life membership by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, Hafeez expressed his gratitude to MCC for awarding him with honorary membership and acknowledging his services for the sport.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to @MCCOfficial honouring life membership acknowledging my services to this beautiful game of cricket. Looking forward to meet new friends & add value as member of MCC,” wrote Hafeez.

Besides Hafeez, England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan and five Indian players including legendary skipper MS Dhoni were also acknowledged by the MCC.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive & Secretary of MCC, said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce our newest cohort of Honorary Life Members of MCC, as we prepare for the new international summer.

“The names that have been announced today are some of the greatest international players of modern times, and we are privileged to now count them as valued Members of our Club.

“We are also pleased to be able to announce two individuals who have been awarded this honour for their monumental contributions off the pitch.”

It is worth mentioning here that Hafeez represented Pakistan in 218 ODIs, 119 T20Is and 55 Tests. The seasoned all-rounder was also a part of the national squad which won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.
