‘Matches against boys will help our players get ready for WC’ Asmavia

KARACHI: Pakistan women’s national chief selector Asmavia Iqbal believes that players will get help from playing matches against boys in the ongoing training camp for the preparations before ICC Women’s World Cup.

Speaking in a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Asmavia said they tried to make scenarios for cricketers to ensure their strong preparation for the mega event.

“We called best players from across the country in the training camp where we will pick players who will suit our combination for the World Cup,” she said.

“In this camp, we divided players into two teams who will compete alongside a boys’ team to prepare well for the event. We have some really talented cricketers and we are closely watching each and every player,” she added.

PCB is expected to announce the women’s squad for World Cup on January 24.

“Our squad is expected to be announced by the end of this month. We will try to pick the best possible players and make a strong squad,” she shared.

“All picked players and reserves will undergo a training camp here later on before their departure for World Cup,” she concluded.
