LAHORE: Bangladesh captain Litton Das has expressed optimism about a strong performance against Pakistan in the three-match T20I series, which begins tomorrow.
Addressing the media ahead of the first T20I, Litton emphasized the importance of hard work, noting that Bangladesh has the capacity to defeat any opposition.
“We are confident that we can beat any team, but it requires effort and discipline,” Liton told reporters.
Litton hailed Pakistan as a strong and balanced side, despite the results not going in their favor in the shorter format over the past year.
“Pakistan is a quality team. If we play well, we can definitely win the match,” he said.
Bangladesh is coming off a 2-0 drubbing by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which created history after the UAE defeated Bangladesh for the first time.
Coming off a losing rut, Bangladesh also faces injury concerns as their key fast bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, are out of the series.
Additionally, their emerging pacer, Nahid Rana, has already opted out of the tour due to personal reasons.
“We haven’t played our best T20 cricket in recent times, but we have good players, Litton Das said of Bangladesh’s recent form, while deeming Injuries as part and parcel of the game.
Stressing on integration into the atmosphere, he added: “The conditions are quite similar to what we see in the Pakistan Super League. High-scoring games are possible here, and we expect some good matches.”
The skipper emphasized the importance of quality cricket, stating that they must perform well in all three departments of the game.
“We’ve come here to play quality cricket. We’ll need to perform well in all departments. If we play well, the results will follow,” Litton concluded.
The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to begin tomorrow.
The second and third matches are scheduled for May 30 and June 1, respectively, all taking place at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. All matches will be played under lights.
