SAN SEBASTIAN: Robert Lewandowski scored Barcelona’s earliest goal of LaLiga after Andres Iniesta as the Spanish League giants crushed the home side Real Sociedad 4-1 on Sunday in La Liga’s second week of the season.
Lewandowski got off to a flying start as he scored the opening goal with just 43 seconds into the game. The Polish striker blasted the ball into the bottom corner after Alex Balde squared the ball to him.
Sociedad were quick to respond as Alexander Isak chipped the ball into the nets helped by the deflection off Eric Garcia to score the equalizer in the 5th minute.
Barca’s effort to regain the lead were thwarted effectively until Ansu Fati came off the bench in the second half and made a significant impact.
Ousmane Dembele put Barca back in lead in the 66th minute after Fati’s brilliant back-heel to the Frenchman who took a touch before driving the ball with his left foot into the far corner.
Barca increased the lead after two minutes as Fati passed the ball to Lewandowski who then slotted the ball into the net to score his second.
Lewandowski then returned the favour as Fati scored goal number four for Barca after a back-heel set-up from the Polish.
Meanwhile, in another match on Sunday, Atletico Madrid faced an upset as Villareal defeated the side 2-0 in a home game.
