Rizwan, Shan propel Sultans to second consecutive victory in PSL 7

KARACHI: Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood scored 150 runs together as Multan Sultans chased down 207 runs against Lahore Qalandars to win their second consecutive match in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7 here at National Stadium.

Set to chase 207 runs, Rizwan and Shan made the run-chase too easy for Sultans who already had a win against Karachi Kings in their account.

In the first phase of the run-chase, Rizwan and Shan looked like in solid mood to chase it down quickly. Shan scored 83 runs off 50 balls including 14 boundaries and a six whereas Rizwan got out after scoring 69 laced with six boundaries and three sixes.

Needed 14 off last over bowled by Haris Rauf, Khushdil Shah smacked three boundaries and a six to finish it off for Sultans in style.

For Qalandars, Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged three wickets.

Earlier, Fakhar Zaman smashed 76 runs to set the tone for Qalandars to score 206-5 in 20 overs.

In a newly introduced bright red kit, Qalandars were sent into bat first after Sultans won the toss on good a sunny day. Fakhar and Abdullah Siddiqui soaked the sun so well and enjoyed smashing shots all around the park.

Fakhar gained massive attention with his firing shots before Sultans’ bowlers. The duo scored 89 runs together before Abdullah was caught at long-off on a tossed up delivery of Imran Tahir. The right-handed debutant batter scored 24 including three boundaries.

It wasn’t an end for Fakhar as he continued his powerful knock and joined hands with another debutant Kamran Ghulam to take Sultans on charge. Fakhar smoked 76 runs off 35 balls laced with 11 boundaries and two maximums.

Kamran struck three sixes and two boundaries to register his worthy contribution of 43 runs off 31 balls. David Wiese (13*) and Rashid Khan (17*) scored quick runs as Qalandars went past to PSL 7’s maiden 200+ score.

For Sultans, Shahnawaz Dahani, Imran, David Willey, Ihsanullah and Khushdil Shah managed to take a wicket each.
