ABU DHABI: Deccan Gladiators sealed a convincing victory against Bangla Tigers by 62 runs thanks to their opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore who smashed record breaking 96 runs to help his team register the victory.
After being invited to bat first in the 27th match of the tournament here on Wednesday, Gladiators’ opening batter, Kohler-Cadmore, put on a strong batting display and single-handedly kept the scoreboard ticking. He smashed 96 off 39 deliveries, including five maximums and 12 boundaries, to record the highest individual score in T10 League history.
Andre Russell was also impressive at the other end, scoring an unbeaten 26 off 18 deliveries, smoking two sixes and a boundary. Odean Smith notched 12 off just three deliveries and remained not-out. Gladiators finished with a total of 140/1 in their allotted 10 overs.
Tigers’ bowlers were taken to the cleaners and only Luke Wood was able to get a wicket.
In response, the Tigers’ batters struggled, and the wickets continued to fall from the start. Isuru Udana, on the other hand, fought back when his team was four down for only 26. He top-scored for the side with 33 off 11 deliveries before getting dismissed by Smith. The remaining batters were unable to contribute significantly, and their team was bundled out for 78 runs.
Wanindu Hasaranga was the Gladiators’ standout bowler as he took the best-ever bowling figures in T10 League’s history, taking a fifer for just 8 runs. Russell, Smith, Wahab Riaz, and Sultan Ahmed all struck out a batter.
