NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the Indian right-handed opener and vice-captain KL Rahul will travel abroad for his groin injury treatment and will miss the upcoming tour of England.
The right-handed batter Rahul, who missed the home series against South Africa due to injury, is now set to miss their upcoming tour of England as the 31-year-old will travel to Germany for the treatment.
The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed Rahul’s unavailability for the England tour to an Indian News website CricBuzz, “That is correct, the board is working on his fitness and he will be going to Germany soon”.
It is pertinent to mention here that the India National Cricket Team will tour England to play seven matches one Test (from July 1 to July 5) and six white-ball matches – three ODIs and as many T20Is.
The right-handed opener Rohit Sharma was set to lead the Indian side in the upcoming tour with Rahul as his deputy but following the latter’s unavailability, the Indian selectors will name a new vice-captain.
