BARBADOS: Kieron Pollard, the West Indies’ white ball captain, has been ruled out of the Pakistan tour due to a hamstring injury.
Following Pollard’s withdrawal from the tour, Nicholas Pooran will lead the side in T20Is, while Shai Hope will captain the team in ODIs.
The replacements have been announced by the West Indies Cricket Board. Pollard will be replaced in the ODI and T20I squads by Devon Thomas, a right-handed batter, and Rovman Powell, an all-rounder.
The all-rounder sustained the injury during the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and was unable to recover in time for the tour.
The T20I and ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies will take place from December 13 to December 22. Both series matches will be held at Karachi’s National Stadium.
