KP beat Balochistan in first round match of Cricket Associations Championship

Lahore: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Balochistan by six wickets at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on the final day of the opening round match of the Cricket Associations Championship (three-day event) on Friday.

Half-centuries from Zohaib Khan and Waqar Ahmed helped Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to a six-wicket win against Balochistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chased down 196-run target for the loss of four wickets in the 57th over.

Zohaib top-scored with an unbeaten 73 off 79 balls. He hit six fours and two sixes. Waqar contributed a 151-ball 65, laced with eight fours. Kamran Ghulam was other contributor with the bat with 32 off 79 balls which included four fours.

Earlier, Balochistan were bowled out for 118 after resuming their second innings on the overnight score of 89 for seven.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Atizaz Habib Khan picked four wickets for 24 while Ahmed Jamal and Zohaib Khan grabbed three wickets each.

The other two matches of round 1 between Northern-Southern Punjab and Central Punjab-Sindh ended as draw.

Northern managed to play out a drawn game against Southern Punjab. Central Punjab played out a drawn match against defending champions Sindh.
