LAHORE: Karachi Kings roped in Australian explosive batter David Warner, New Zealand speedster Adam Milne and young local pacer Abbas Afridi in the Platinum category of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 Player Draft here on Monday.

Karachi Kings kicked off the PSL Draft with the blockbuster first pick as they selected the dynamic David Warner. Known for his explosive batting style, Warner has established himself as a formidable force at the top of the order across all formats of cricket.

Representing Australia, he has participated in 110 T20 Internationals, amassing an impressive total of 3,277 runs, which includes a remarkable century and 28 half-centuries.

With a wealth of experience in various franchise leagues worldwide, Warner has showcased his skills in competitions such as the Big Bash League (BBL), Indian Premier League (IPL), ILT20, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), making him a sought-after player in T20 formats.

Pakistan’s Test captain and Karachi King’s top-order batter Shan Masood expressed his excitement about David Warner’s inclusion, stating, “David Warner is one of the biggest names in international and franchise cricket. Having a player of his stature join the league is a significant boost, but seeing him represent Karachi Kings makes it even more special. We are thrilled to have him on board.”

Following Warner’s selection, the franchise turned its attention to the second round, securing the services of Adam Milne, a pace bowler known for his speed and agility. Since making his debut for New Zealand in 2012, Milne has played 53 T20 Internationals, claiming 57 wickets at a commendable average of 24.98.

He has carved out a niche as one of New Zealand’s quickest bowlers, often leaving batters in awe of his pace. Milne’s extensive participation in international leagues adds to his resume, having made appearances in the Big Bash League, The Hundred Men’s Competition, the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Vitality Blast.

Karachi Kings rounded out their Platinum picks with the talented Abbas Afridi, who has quickly become a key player for Pakistan’s T20I team. Afridi boasts an impressive record, having taken 30 wickets in just 18 matches for the national team.

Previously associated with Multan Sultans, he has demonstrated his potential and prowess in the marquee league, and his addition promises to enhance Karachi Kings’ bowling attack significantly.
