LAHORE: Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter, Kamran Akmal withdrew himself from Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7 over category demotion.
During an interview on his YouTube channel, Kamran stated that he does not wish to continue with the category offered.
Kamran said, despite being the top scorer for the previous six seasons, he does not think he deserves to be picked in the silver category.
“I had reservations on being demoted from Platinum to Gold category. Youngsters should be picked in the silver category,” he said.
“I don’t think I should play in this category,” he added.
Mohammad Akram, the director of Peshawar Zalmi, stated that Kamran was already informed about the matter.
“Despite being picked in the lower category, he will get the same amount of money,” he said.
Akram also said that the franchise still has the services of the wicket-keeper and will try to meet Kamran to solve the rising tensions.
“Will meet Kamran and convince him. Kamran has great achievements for Pakistan and Pakistan Super League,” he added.
“Kamran still has the same respect as before, we saved the ‘Right to match’ card for him,” he concluded.
Akram also said that the categories for the players were decided by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the franchise has no hold over it.
On the other hand, Kamran already told in the interview that the batter is not concerned about the money. He also requested the franchise to release him.
