Joshua Filler thumps Lo Ho Sum to win the World Pool Masters 2022

GIBRALTAR: The German pool player Joshua Filler outshone his Hong Kong counterpart Lo Ho Sum 9-6 to win his first World Pool Masters crown, here on Sunday.

The 24-years-old German pool player Filler, who trumped the former champion Ko Pin Yi 7-3 in the semi-final, carried on his momentum in the final against Ho Sum to claim his fifth major title.

The exciting final between Filler and Ho Sum featured a see-saw battle between the two pool players with Ho Sum pulling ahead and Filler levels or vice-versa.

With the scores level at 6-6, Ho Sum made a costly error as he missed the chance to pot the six ball, a smart short from Filler then pulled the rack in his favour, who, eventually took a frame lead of 7-6.

Filler then displayed his prowess by spotting a 3-6 combination that allowed him to clear the table despite a weak break to reach the hill at 8-6. He then ran the last rack dominantly to complete his historic victory.

It is apropos to mention here that with his World Pool Masters title victory, Filler has become one of very few players win the World Pool Championship, US Open Pool Championship, Mosconi Cup, World Cup of Pool, and World Pool Masters in their career at just the age of 24.
