India pull out of Blind T20 Cricket World Cup in Pakistan

The government of India denied its team permission to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Blind Cricket T20 World Cup, scheduled to begin on November 23 in Lahore, further fueling the controversy surrounding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

According to Indian media reports, the defending champion India will not travel to Pakistan to play the Blind T20 World Cup 2024 as it has not received permission from the government.

The Blind T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be held in Lahore and Multan from November 23 to December 3.

In a recent conversation with India Today, Sailendra Yadav, who serves as the general secretary of the Indian Blind Cricket Association (IBCA), shed light on the disappointing news regarding the blind cricket team’s planned trip to Pakistan.

Yadav confirmed that despite the team receiving a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Sports Ministry, the Ministry of External Affairs ultimately denied permission for them to travel across the border.

“We were waiting for the last 25 days to get permission from the government to go to Pakistan,” said Yadav.

“When I talked with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on the phone then they told us that we won’t be getting any permission to go to Pakistan and we can cancel your tournament.”
