The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 3 to 20 October.
India are placed in Group A of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 with arch-rivals Pakistan as well as Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian side, while Smriti Mandhana will serve as the vice-captain.
The 15-member squad features 14 players from the ACC Women’s Asia Cup squad, with Uma Chetry being the only player to miss out.
Chetry has been replaced by wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia, but her inclusion is subject to fitness. Meanwhile, Chetry is among the travelling reserves alongside Tanuja Kanwer and Saima Thakor.
Similarly, Shreyanka Patil’s inclusion is also contingent on her recovery from a fractured finger in her left hand sustained during an Asia Cup match against Pakistan.
