ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, launched the country’s largest talent hunt program, ‘Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive,’ in which students from over a hundred universities will compete.
Under the talent hunt program ‘Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive,’ 12 different games for males and 10 for females would be organized across 25 regions. Both have a target age range of 11 to 25 years.
Football, cricket, hockey, badminton, boxing, handball, judo, squash, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling were among the male sports.
The government will set up high-performance centers in 12 universities as part of the program. Sports academies would also be established at various universities.
While speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that efforts are being made to make Pakistani players stand out at the international level.
“The government is making every effort to provide opportunities for the youth to get complete education. The goal is to make Pakistan’s players stand out at international level.”, he said.
PM said that the youth learn from losing on the playground also the game puts man’s feet on the ground in victories
“When youth learn to compete on the playground, they gain an understanding of what it means to win and lose. When a person loses his heart and raises his hand, he loses. Hard work is done in the process of learning from defeat by examining the mistakes that cause him to stand up again.”, he added.
PM Imran also shared that the government is looking to build playgrounds in every union.
“We have built 300 grounds for youth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 260 playgrounds were built in Punjab in two years. We want to build playgrounds in every union.”, he concluded.
Director General Pakistan Sports, Colonel Asif Zaman congratulated the talent hunt program and the vision of PM Imran, and said that such events should keep going as it is a vital opportunity for the sportsperson to showcase their talent.
“Talent Hunt aims to promote sports activities. The students from 110 universities of Pakistan has joined the program and we are hopeful that this program will promote the talent of the students.”
It must be noted here that former British footballer Michael Owen has become a part of the sports drive. Owen will train the youth by building a soccer city in Pakistan.
