LONDON: Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq is unlikely to feature in the remainder of the Lord’s Test against England.
According to Cricinfo, Imam underwent scans and has suffered a Grade 1 tear in his left calf. After scans, the left-hander has been advised to rest for 10 days.
Imam was out of action after tea on day one as Salman Ali Agha came in as a substitute. Due to injury, he did not bat in Pakistan’s first innings, as the visitors were bowled out for 110 in fewer than 38 overs in reply to England’s 290.
After the injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provided an update on the batter, saying that Imam’s participation would depend on his recuperation from injury.
Meanwhile, pacer Mohammad Ali also refrained from commenting on Imam after the close of third-day play.

“I wouldn’t be able to tell you anything about it,” he told reporters. “I am aware of his status, but the team’s medical panel is better placed to answer you,” he said.
Imam-ul-Haq was injured during the first Test at Headingley, which the visitors lost by an innings and 103 runs. He was batting on 42 when he felt discomfort in his calf.
The opener shared a 91-run partnership with Abdullah Shafique for the third wicket, but Pakistan subsequently collapsed and were bowled out for 171.
Imam’s expected absence at Lord’s adds to Pakistan’s woes as the touring team is struggling with the bat.
The third and final Test of the series will begin in Birmingham on September 9, giving Imam sufficient time to recover from his calf injury.
