KARACHI: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Shoaib Akhar thanked his supporters for their prayers as the legendary fast bowler underwent knee surgery in Australia and admitted that it was totally worth the pain to represent his country.
Akhtar, popularly known as ‘Rawalpindi Express’ for his fierce pace, in a video posted on his official Twitter account, shared a message for his fans from the hospital bed after his partial-knee replacement procedure.
“Again I want to say this even in this condition that it was all worth it playing for Pakistan, Totally worth it,” he said in the video.
“If I have to through all this pain again for Pakistan, I would love to and won’t hesitate even for the second,” he added.

The 46-year-old Akhtar, who represented Pakistan in 46 Tests and 163 ODIs, has already undergone five similar surgeries in the past and hoped that this would possibly be the last one.
The speedster further expressed gratitude to his fans and urged them to pray for him and the country.
“I’m Okay. Obviously in pain but fine. Keep praying for me and pray for Pakitan,” he told his supporters.
It is apropos to mention here that Akhtar holds the record of the fastest delivery in the history of cricket – 161kmph, meanwhile he also took 444 international wickets during his scintillating career.
