Pakistan squad holds practice session for must-win Bangladesh clash

KOLKATA: Pakistan Men’s cricket team held a full-strength training session on Monday at the Eden Gardens here ahead of their ICC World Cup 2023 clash against Bangladesh.

According to the details, Pakistan, who are on a four-match losing streak, engaged in a rigorous practice session for a crucial fixture against Bangladesh.

The players partook in several batting, bowling and fielding drills to boast their preparations for their seventh World Cup fixture.

Pakistan is currently in sixth position in the World Cup standings with four points in six matches, with a net run rate of -0.387.

Whereas, Bangladesh currently hold the ninth spot in the standings with two points in six matches.

In their previous ICC World Cup 2023 fixture, Pakistan suffered a narrow one-wicket defeat against South Africa.

Set to chase 271, South Africa’s number nine Keshav Maharaj scored the winning boundary off Mohammad Nawaz on the second delivery of the 48th over.

Aiden Markram top-scored for South Africa in a tricky run chase with a gutsy 91 in 93 deliveries, laced up with seven boundaries and three sixes.

Hard-hitting batter David Miller was the other notable run-getter for the Proteas with a 33-ball 29.

Shaheen Shah Afridi led the bowling attack for Pakistan with 3/45 while Haris Rauf, Usama Mir and Mohammad Wasim Jr bagged two wickets each.

  • October 31 – vs Bangladesh in Kolkata
  • November 4 – vs New Zealand Bengaluru (Day match)

The day matches will start at 10:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST) while all other matches will be day-night fixtures, starting at 01:30 pm (PST).
