DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, charged West Indies cricketer Devon Thomas with seven counts under the Anti-Corruption codes.
Devon Thomas, who was named in the West Indies squad for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against the UAE in Dubai, was “contriving or being party to an agreement to fix or attempt to fix” and has thus been suspended by the ICC with immediate effect.
“The ICC has provisionally suspended Thomas with immediate effect after charging him under their Anti-Corruption codes on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL),” said ICC in a statement.
“The charges involve contriving or being party to an agreement to fix or attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or other aspects of matches in the Lanka Premier League 2021,” the statement added.
He has also been charged with violating a number of other laws, including failing to disclose full facts of an approach in the Lanka Premier League 2021, Abu Dhabi T10 2021, and CPL 2021.
Devon Thomas has 14 days to respond to the aforementioned charges against him.
He last represented West Indies in the Adelaide Test against Australia in December 2022, his only appearance in the format. He has also played for West Indies in 21 ODIs and 12 T20Is since his international debut in 2009.
