DAMMAM: Anmol Hira’s late decider aided Pakistan Women to kick off their four-nation Cup in style as the Green Shirts sealed a close 1-0 win over Comoros in their opening match on Wednesday.
In a see-saw contest between the two sides, Pakistan came out victorious in the 89th minute when Hira’s strike went past the goalkeeper after a superb backheel from Zahmena Malika.
After a nil-nil first half, both sides upped the ante and created a few opportunities but failed to get into the scoresheet till the very last.
Pakistan will next face Mauritius on January 15 before taking on hosts Saudi Arabia on January 19.
It is worth mentioning here that this is Pakistan Women’s team’s second win in a row since FIFA lifted the ban on the Pakistan Football Federation last year.
Earlier, Pakistan thrashed Maldives 7-0 in SAFF Women’s Championship 2022 in Nepal.
