Worked on my weaknesses: Hasan Nawaz on match-winning knocks in PSL 10

RAWALPINDI: Quetta Gladiators middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz attributes his success in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 to his efforts in addressing his weaknesses following the New Zealand tour.

Hasan has been pivotal for table-topping Quetta Gladiators in PSL 10. He is currently the fourth-highest run-getter in the tournament, with 317 runs in 10 matches at an impressive average of 63.40, which includes two half-centuries and a century.

The right-hander once again stood tall for the Gladiators in a crunch moment against the Multan Sultans. With 11 required of the last over, Hasan Nawaz held his nerve and smashed six off the last ball with only two needed.

The 22-year-old bagged the Player of the Match award for scoring an unbeaten 67 off 38 balls, hitting two fours and half a dozen sixes. This marks Hasan’s third impressive knock as he previously scored a superb century against Islamabad United.

He took Quetta Gladtitors twice over the line in the final overs. In the 23rd match of the tournament, he scored 64* against United, scoring 16 in the last over.

In the post-match presentation, Hasan clarified his game plan, hailing the post-New Zealand work as an improvement in his game.

“My plan was to play till the end and seal the game for my side. I worked on my weaknesses after the New Zealand tour, and it paid off,” he said.

For the Unversed, Hasan Nawaz debuted in the T20I series against New Zealand at Christchurch. Among his notable performances was his unbeaten 105* in the third T20I, also in chasing a big total.

Pakistan chased down the 205-run target in 16 overs thanks to a sublime Nawaz’s century, which featured seven sixes and 10 fours.
