KARACHI: Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali on Tuesday levelled with former pacer Wahab Riaz for most wickets in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Hasan reached this milestone during a match against Lahore Qalandars at the National Bank Stadium, where he recorded outstanding bowling figures of 4 wickets for 28 runs in four overs.
He dismissed Mohammad Naeem, Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, and Sam Billings to reach this milestone.
This impressive four-wicket performance allowed Hasan to join Wahab at the top of the PSL’s all-time wicket-takers chart, with both bowlers claiming 113 wickets.
Notably, Hasan Ali accomplished this feat in just 83 innings, four fewer innings than Wahab, who achieved the milestone in 87 innings.
Most wickets in PSL
The 30-year-old has been performing well this PSL season, taking five wickets in two matches so far.
Although he had a relatively expensive outing against the Multan Sultans, where he conceded 44 runs for one wicket, Hasan made a strong comeback against the Qalandars with a sensational spell.
Despite Hasan Ali wickets, Lahore Qalandars posted 201 for the loss of six wickets in their allocated 20 overs.
Karachi Kings struck early, as Qalandars lost their openers Mohammad Naeem (7) and Abdullah Shafique (6) in the second and fourth overs, respectively.
However, Daryl Mitchell and Fakhar Zaman again steaded the Qalandars’ ship with a mammoth stand of 125 runs.
Fakhar was dismissed after a well-made 76 off 47 balls, laced with six fours and five sixes, while Mitchell was equally good with his flawless 75 off 41 deliveries, featuring nine fours and two sixes.
