Haris Sohail refutes rumours of retirement

Pakistan all-rounder Haris Sohail vehemently denied the rumours of his retirement from international cricket on Thursday.

Haris voiced his disappointment over the spread of false rumours circulating on social media regarding his career, stating that he has no plans to retire from the game any time soon.

“I have not made any decision to retire, nor do I have any such intention. My full focus is on continuing to play the game that I love,” he said in a statement.

In response to the speculations, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also clarified that they had not received any official communication concerning the retirement of Haris Sohail.

The 35-year-old all-rounder has represented Pakistan in 16 Test matches, 45 ODIs, and 14 T20Is since making his international debut in 2013. He has amassed a total of 2,806 runs across all formats, including four centuries and 17 half-centuries.

He last donned the national team’s jersey in January last year, when he was selected by then chief selector Shahid Afridi for a three-match ODI series against New Zealand held on home soil.

However, Haris struggled to make a significant impact during this series, posting modest scores of 32, 10, and 22 in his three outings.

Despite his lacklustre performance in the series, the selectors chose to retain Haris in Pakistan’s squad for another ODI series against New Zealand later in the year. But he sustained an injury which led to his exclusion from the entire series.
