Haris Rauf receives honorary DSP rank from Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD: Fast bowler Haris Rauf was conferred with the honorary rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Islamabad Police on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter, the capital city police announced that Rauf was made the goodwill ambassador of the force and shared pictures of the pacer receiving the honorary DSP rank from the Inspector General of Islamabad Police.

“Famous Cricket player Haris Rauf has been made the goodwill ambassador of Islamabad Capital Police. IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan conferred the honorary rank of DSP on Haris Rauf.” wrote ICT on its official Twitter account.

The right-arm pacer also expressed his excitement over his appointment as a goodwill ambassador, saying it was ‘an even greater honour’ for him to wear the uniform.

“I’m truly honoured to be appointed as a goodwill ambassador of Islamabad Police and an even greater honour to be able to wear this uniform as our heroes who lay their lives in the line of duty !” Rauf tweeted.

Earlier, fellow-pacer Naseem Shah was also appointed as honorary DSP by the Balochistan Police last month.

It is pertinent to mention here Haris Rauf is one of the mainstays of Pakistan’s bowling attack. He has 72 T20I wickets and 30 ODI wickets to his credit.

Recently he represented the Pakistan Super League (PSL) repeat champions Lahore Qalanadars during the eighth edition of the tournament.
