Haris named in Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for Global Super League

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris has been named in the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the upcoming Global Super League (GSL) 2026, becoming the only Pakistani player selected by the defending champions for the tournament.

The third edition of the GSL is scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 1, with five franchise teams competing for the title.

The Warriors, who lifted the trophy in 2025, have assembled a star-studded squad led by veteran South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir as they aim to defend their crown.

Haris, regarded as one of Pakistan’s most exciting young white-ball talents, is the lone Pakistani representative in the Warriors squad. His inclusion adds further international experience to a side packed with proven performers from around the world.

The squad also features several high-profile overseas players, including Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Glenn Phillips.

A strong Caribbean core has also been retained, with West Indies stars Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie and Johnson Charles all included in the title-defending squad.

The upcoming edition of the Global Super League will feature four other teams alongside the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars will also be part of the season, while Australia’s Perth Scorchers, UAE-based Desert Vipers and USA’s San Francisco Unicorns complete the five-team lineup.

The tournament has quickly established itself as one of the premier inter-league franchise competitions. The inaugural title was won by Rangpur Riders in 2024 after they defeated Victoria in the final, while Guyana Amazon Warriors captured the 2025 crown with a victory over Rangpur Riders in the championship match.

With a blend of international stars and experienced T20 campaigners, the Warriors will be among the favourites once again as they look to secure back-to-back Global Super League titles.
