ABU DHABI: Haider Ali shone with the ball with brilliant figures of 2/7 before Hameed Khan’s 42-run knock lifted Fujairah to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Emirates Red in the 40th match of the Emirates D10 League.
Set to chase a modest 76-run target, Fujairah, in response, raised 81 for the loss of just three wickets with 20 balls to spare, courtesy of a magnificent second-wicket partnership between Hameed Khan and Hafiz Almas.
The duo of Hameed and Almas recovered Fujairah’s pursuit from an early setback and stitched a match-defining 56-run partnership for the second wicket.
Hameed and Almas dominated Emirates Red bowlers amid their vital stand and scored at a brisk rate until Ammar Badami got the prized wicket of Hameed Khan in the sixth over when the table-toppers needed just four more runs.
Hameed struck three boundaries and as many sixes on his way to top-score for Fujairah with an 18-ball 42.
Hafiz Almas’s stay at the crease also remained brief after Hameed’s dismissal as he too, fell victim to Ammar Badami in the same over.
He remained the other notable run-getter for Fujairah with a 14-ball 25, laced up with a boundary and two sixes.
Ammar Badami picked up two wickets for Emirates Red while Umer Doger could pick up a wicket.
Put into bat first, Emirates Red’s batting lineup struggled against a strong Fujairah bowling attack and could accumulate 75/7 in the allotted 10 overs.
Lower-order batter Umer Doger top-scored for Emirates Red with a quickfire seven-ball 17 and bolstered their total at the backend.
Besides him, Muhammad Irfan, Sana Ul Haq Bhatti and Muhammad Shahdad were the other notable run-getters with 10 runs each while the rest failed to make it into the double figures.
For Fujairah, Hafiz Almas and Haider Ali bagged two wickets each while Umair Ali Khan struck out a batter.
