BRAMPTON: Kaleem Sana and Azmatullah Omarzai decimated Toronto Nationals’ batting lineup before Montreal Tigers’ batters led the side to a seven-wicket victory in the 19th match of the GT20 Canada 2024.
Montreal Tigers opted to field first and the bowlers proved the decision right as Omarzai bowled Colin Munro and Andries Gous in the first over.
Meanwhile, Sana wreaked the stumps of Unmukt Chand and Roston Chase on the last two balls of the next over, leaving Toronto Nationals reeling at 10-4 in two overs.
Sana completed his hat-trick as he dismissed Mohammad Nawaz on the first ball of his next over. He removed Saad Bin Zafar in the same over to complete his four-wicket haul.
Jatinderpal Matharu remained the only batter to reach double figures with a score of 12 as the team bundled for a meagre 52 in 11.1 overs.
Kaleem Sana returned with brilliant bowling figures of 4-13, while Omarzai picked three wickets for 22 runs. Corbin Bosch also contributed with took two wickets.
Chasing a small total, Montreal Tigers achieved the target in 11.3 overs at the loss of three wickets. Captain Tim Seifert remained the top-scorer with an unbeaten 15.
With this dominant victory, the Montreal Tigers jumped to the top of the GT20 Canada points table with nine points from six games. Meanwhile, the Toronto Nationals are currently in fourth place with seven points in seven matches.
