KARACHI: The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) – Ramiz Raja, while talking to the media has revealed his goal to make Pakistan Super League (PSL) equal to the Indian Premier League (IPL), here on Monday.
Ramiz, while talking to the media in an informal interaction, expressed his desire to make Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s marquee event PSL as successful as IPL.
“We will make PSL as big as the IPL,” he said.
“PSL has become the brand of Pakistan. Pakistan has benefited a lot from the PSL. Also, in the last season, each PSL franchise earn around 540 Crores,” he added.
Ramiz further showed his desire to hold a tri-nation series including the arch-rivals India.
“We want to hold a triangular series with India,” he said.
“The idea of bilateral series has become obsolete in Test cricket. The future of cricket lies in tri-nation and quadrilateral series,” he added.
Ramiz, however, admitted that the PCB can not exert pressure on the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) through the International Cricket Council (ICC).
“We can’t use the ICC to put additional pressure on India. We must be able to stand on our own,” he said.
Ramiz then termed getting the hosting rights of two major events as the success of the PCB, while also showing the determination of working on the infrastructure.
