LONDON: German pool player Joshua Filler outclassed the Spaniard Francisco Sanchez Ruiz 13-7 to claim the inaugural UK Open Pool Championship, here on Sunday.
Sanchez Ruiz, who defeated the reigning World Pool Champion Shane Van Boening in the semi-finals, suffered a thumping defeat at the hands of Filler, who extended his trophy cabinet with the inaugural UK Open Pool title.
The 24-years-old, who won the World Pool Masters earlier this month, ran away with the title victory after securing five consecutive racks to end the final with a huge lead over Sanchez Ruiz.
The young pool player outclassed the two-time World Pool Masters winner David Alcaide by 11-4 in the semi-final and booked his second championship final in a month.
The German will now set his sights on the upcoming 2022 World Cup of Pool, which will take place in Essex from June 14-19. The five-day-long global event will feature teams from 32 countries, who will battle it out to lift the trophy.
