CAIRO: Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has finalised his 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026, with star forward Mohamed Salah set to lead the Pharaohs at football’s biggest tournament in North America.
The Liverpool talisman, who is expected to leave the Premier League club at the end of the season after a nine-year spell, remains the focal point of Egypt’s ambitions as they prepare for their first World Cup appearance since 2018.
Salah enters the tournament as Egypt’s second-highest goalscorer of all time, having scored 67 goals in 115 international appearances.
The 33-year-old is expected to captain the side as they look to make an impact in a challenging Group G.
Joining him in the squad is Omar Marmoush, who enjoyed an impressive season with Manchester City, while uncapped teenage forward Hamza Abdelkarim also earned a surprise inclusion after impressing for FC Barcelona Juvenil A.
Egypt will begin their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign against Belgium on June 15 in Seattle before facing New Zealand and Iran in their remaining Group G fixtures.
