KARACHI: Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7 officially kicked off by chairman Ramiz Raja and Prime Minister Imran Khan in a glittering opening ceremony here at National Stadium on Thursday.
“PSL 7 is starting from today. I wish all the teams best of luck and want them to fight till the last ball,” PM Khan said in a pre-recorded inauguration video.
In the opening ceremony, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja narrated the history of Pakistan’s cricket in a documentary directed by Oscar winner filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinnoy. The documentary featured different phases of Pakistan cricket and their achievements.
The inception of PSL and its success to produce star players was also well described by the PCB chairman. Star singers Atif Aslam and Aima Baig performed PSL 7’s official anthem ‘Agay Dekh‘ with grace and pride.
Meanwhile, fans cheered glimpses of the brief opening ceremony. Home side Karachi Kings and defending champions Multan Sultans will take on each other in the opening match of the league.
