England drops Jason Roy from T20 World Cup squad

LONDON: Star opener Jason Roy has been sidelined from the team as England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.

Jos Buttler will lead the team in his first global tournament as captain, after assuming charge of the England team from Eoin Morgan, who retired from international cricket earlier this year.

Pacers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have also been named in both squads for the T20 World Cup and T20I tour of Pakistan. Meanwhile, Chris Jordan and Liam Livingstone have been rested for the tour due to injuries, they will join the team in Australia for T20I mega event.

England T20 World Cup squad: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood.
