England beat UAE to qualify for U19 WC’s Quarter Finals

BASSETERRE: Rehan Ahmed bagged four wickets as England outclassed United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 189 runs to win their third consecutive match and qualify for ICC U19 Cricket World Cup’s Quarter Finals. 

Set to chase mammoth 363 runs, UAE’s top-order collapsed as they bowled out for 173. Ali Naseer scored 54 runs off 44 balls including seven boundaries and a six. Alishan Sharafu made 21 runs.

Apart from Rehan, Joshua Boyden bagged two wickets while Nathan Barnwell, Jacob Bethell, Thomas Aspinwall, George Bell shared a wicket apiece.

Earlier, England’s top order scored 183 runs together as they posted 362-6. Tom Perst smashed 154 laced with 13 boundaries and four maximums. Jacob Bethell made 62 including eight boundaries and three sixes.

For UAE, Jash Giyanani bagged two wickets.

On the other hand, Bangladesh beat Canada by eight wickets to register their maiden victory in the mega event.

After deciding to bat first, Canada were bowled out for 136 runs. Anoop Chima scored 63 runs including seven boundaries.

Ripon Mondol and SM Meherob bagged four wickets each for Bangladesh.

In reply, Iftakher Hossain (61) and Prantik Nawrose Nabil (33) scored 76 runs together as Bangladesh easily chased the target in 30.1 overs.

For Canada, Parmveer Kharoud and Ethan Gibson shared a wicket apiece.
