England beat Pakistan in final Test to complete 3-0 series whitewash

KARACHI: England sealed a comprehensive eight-wicket victory early on Day 4 in the final Test to whitewash Pakistan 3-0 in the home series, here at National Bank Cricket Arena on Tuesday.

Captain Ben Stokes and opener Ben Duckett led the way for England as they quickly chased down the remaining 55 runs in the opening session.

The commendable performance from Ben Stokes-led men throughout the series made England the only team to clean-sweep Pakistan at home.

After close defeats in the first two Tests, Pakistan looked completely submissive in the final encounter where they scored 520 runs in both innings combined while their bowlers managed only 12 wickets mostly by the spinners.

Set to chase 167 in the final innings England had already raised 112 on the previous day with a loss of two wickets and only played 11 more overs on a new day to finish the game.

Player of the Match, Harry Brook made an astounding hundred on the second day to help England gain a 50-run lead in the first innings before they bundled out Pakistan for 216 in the second innings thanks to debutant Rehan Ahmed’s brilliant five-wicket haul.

Brook had a phenomenal run with the bat throughout the tour as he accumulated 468 runs with help of three glittering centuries. His phenomenal hundred in each of the three games earned him the player of the series award too.

Rehan, the youngest player to make a debut for England, had an impressive start to his career as he wreaked havoc on Pakistan’s batting line in the second innings and returned astounding figures for 5/48.
