Emirates Red thump Dubai to solidify second spot in D10 League standings

ABU DHABI: Ahaan Fernandes’ brisk 48-run knock before Umer Doger’s 4/16 propelled Emirates Red to a dominant 27-run triumph over Dubai in the 25th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, Emirates Red piled up a massive total of 115/6 in the allotted 10 overs at the back of quality knocks by Ahaan Fernandes and Muhammad Shahdad.

Earlier, Emirates Red got off to a poor start as they were two down with just 17 runs on the scoreboard as Uzair Haidar Naheed Ullah (1) and Muhammad Irfan-II (0).

Following the early hiccups, Ahaan Fernandes and Muhammad Shahdad launched the recovery for Emirates Red as they added 34 runs until the former perished.

Fernances smashed three boundaries and four sixes on his way to a 25-ball 48 and top-scored for the side.

Muhammad Shahdad, on the other hand, stood his ground firm and carried his bat all the way through before receiving brief support from Sana Ul Haq Bhatti (18) and Clinton Berkenshaw (2).

He remained the other notable run-getter for Emirates Red with his 18-ball 40, which featured four boundaries and two sixes.

For Dubai, Farooq Mohammad, Jaiditya Malik, Aryan Lakra and Nilansh Keswani struck out a batter each.

Set to chase 116, Dubai batting lineup struggled against the Umer Doger-led Emirates Red bowling attack and could score 88/8 in their set of 10 overs and thus handed a resounding 27-run victory to the second-placed side.

Top-order batter Taimoor Ali-I remained the top-scorer for Dubai amid their dismal show with the bat as he scored 23 off 13 deliveries with the help of two boundaries and a six.

Besides him, only Aryan Lakra (12) and Hriday Savnani Nilansh Keswai – 18 runs each – remained the notable run-getters while none of the rest managed to make it into the double figures.

Umer Doger led the bowling charge for Emirates Red with four wickets for just runs, while Muhammad Asif-Jr bagged two.
