Emirates Blues sink Dubai in low-scoring D10 League thriller

ABU DHABI: Harsh Desai’s twin wickets before skipper Aryan Saxena’s vital knock paved the way for Emirates Blues to a narrow three-wicket victory over Dubai in the 19th fixture of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, Dubai batters struggled against Emirates Blues’ bowling attack, which barred them from scoring freely and restricted them to a modest total of 71/6 in the allotted 10 overs.

Dubai, after a poor start, kept losing wickets at regular intervals before being halted to a below-par total of 71; courtesy of some tight bowling by the Blues’ bowlers.

Safeer Tariq (16) top-scored for Dubai amid their dismal show with the bat, followed by openers Ronak Paloy (14) and Hriday Savnani (14).

Harsh Desai led the bowling attack for Emirates Blues with his economical two overs in which he leaked away just nine runs and picked up two wickets. Zawar Farid, Akasha Tahir and Harit Shetty picked up a wicket apiece.

Set to chase a meagre 72, Emirates Blues completed the pursuit in the last over with three wickets in hand but that was not achieved without hiccups as the Blues, after a decent start ran into a collapse and kept losing wickets at an alarming rate.

However, skipper Aryan Saxena’s quickfire 14-run knock sailed them through. He smashed two sixes amid his match-winning effort and remained the joint top-scorer for his side in the run chase with Alishan Sharafu and Ashwant Valthapa.

Nilansh Keswani, Shahid Nawaz, and Rahul Bhatia led the bowling attack for Dubai with two wickets each while Farooq Mohammad struck out a batter.
