Eight Pakistan players including Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez and Asif Ali will feature in the upcoming Zim Afro T10 League 2023.
The players’ draft for the upcoming inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 League took place on Monday, July 3.
Following the players’ draft, the participating teams picked 16 players each in their squad which include at least six Zimbabwean cricketers.
The tournament will run from July 20 to July 29 and will feature five teams – the Harare Hurricanes, Joburg Buffaloes, Durban Qalandars, Bulawayo Braves, and Cape Town Samp Army – competing for the silverware.
Notably, the Zim Afro T10 League will mark the first instance when a franchise league will become a part of Zimbabwe cricket.
It is worth mentioning here that five cricketers will be chosen from Zimbabwe’s Emerging Player Programme, which is intended to provide the young players with an opportunity to burst onto the big stage, and they will be added to each team’s roster in the upcoming days.
“This is a historic day for Zimbabwean cricket and we can’t wait to open up the doors for such talented cricketers. Each of the five squads look extremely strong and I am sure the cricket on display will be of the highest order,” Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director, Givemore Makoni, said.
“And I am delighted that the Zim Afro T10 will also give the young cricketers a boost as they will be rubbing shoulders with some of the best players in the world.”
