LONDON: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) hosted their first-ever Iftar event, here on Thursday. The Home of Cricket, Lord’s Cricket Ground was echoed by the Azan.
Following the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal at Yorkshire Cricket Club, the ECB has been working hard to develop a healthy culture that is tolerant of all cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Rafiq was also in attendance at the gathering.
Aatif Nawaz and Tameena Hussain, two well-known commentators, hosted the event, which was attended by a number of high-profile guests.
England’s white-ball captain Eoin Morgan was also seen attending the event.
On the other hand, Nakul Pande, Sky Sports Associate Producer, shared a stunning video of the Maghrib Azaan being recited in the Lord’s Long Room.
“You need not be a person of faith, only a person in possession of a soul, to find the adhan call to prayer reverberating around the [Home of Cricket] Long Room spine-tingling. A beautiful moment,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
