LAHORE: The captain of Divisional Public School (DPS) Faisalabad Arham Nawab and Abdullah Shahid scintillated as their team defeated Government College University Lahore to win the Central Punjab Cricket Association College Championship 2022 on Friday at Gaddafi Stadium.
In the final of the college championship, DPS Faisalabad comfortably chased down 177 in the last over with six wickets in hand as the player of the match Abdullah led the run chase top-scoring with 76 off 66 balls, laced with seven boundaries and a six.
Abdur Rehman, on the other hand, also contributed with 32 in 65 balls and struck two boundaries. He also added 64 runs for the third wicket partnership.
The skipper Arham, who came out to bat at number five remained unbeaten on 24. He faced 25 balls in the course of his match-winning innings and smashed one boundary and as many sixes and led the side to the title victory.
Batting first, GCU Lahore could only manage to score 176/9 in the allotted 40 overs. The opening Batter Mubashir Muzamil fought hard for his side with a gritty 61 off 98 balls as his side was losing wickets at an alarming rate. Hasnain Qamar also chipped in by scoring 33 in 36 balls, hitting three fours.
For DPS Faisalabad, Arham led the way; taking three wickets for 22 runs, while the right-arm fast Abdur Rehman equally supported by bagging as many wickets for 44 runs.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Baqir Raza won the Best Wicket-Keeper of the tournament with seven catches and eight stumpings. Government Grad. College Sheikhupura’s Hassan Khan, on the other hand, adjudged the Best Bowler of the Tournament for taking 22 wickets in five matches.
Obaid Shahid from Punjab College Lahore was the Best Batter of the Tournament scoring 706 runs in eight matches.
