T10 League: Deccan Gladiators defeat Chennai Braves in a low scoring contest

Wanindu Harasanga’s spin did the trick as his side defeated Chennai Braves by 5 wickets in the 18th match of Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Deccan Gladiators’ skipper Wahab Riaz won the toss and invited the Chennai batters to bat first. Batting first, Braves’ batters kept losing wickets consistently and none of them were able to make an impact as the side was bowled out for just 57 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa was their highest scorer as the batter scored 18 off 10 deliveries and no other batter was able to reach into the double figures.

Gladiators’ bowlers on the other hand did extremely well and Harasanga was their key bowler as he took three wickets for just nine runs. Rumman Raees and Andre Russell dismissed two batters each in their respective quota of overs. Whereas, Sultan Ahmed took one wicket.

Deccan batters also could not start their innings well and they were also losing wickets in the quick succession. The side got into trouble as they were four down with just 20 on the board. Tom Banton and David Wiese played a sensible knock to get their side out of any sort danger. Tom Banton scored 19 off 15 deliveries and Wiese top scored with 20 not-out off just 9 deliveries and get his side home.

Mark Deyal and Angelo Perera bowled brilliantly as they both took two wickets and tried to turn the game into the favor of Braves but in vain. Nuwan Pradeep dismissed one batter.

Gladtiators’ victory against Braves earned them the second position on the points table. Whereas, Braves remained at the bottom.
