ABU DHABI: Deccan Gladiators defeated Delhi Bulls by 17 runs in the first qualifier of the ongoing T10 League on Friday, securing their spot in the final.
Batting first, Gladiators put on a respectable total of 139/4 in their allotted 10 overs, thanks to their batters’ collective effort. Everything worked well for the side, from the openers providing a solid opening stand to the middle-order batters chipping in effectively in the crucial match. Set Gladiators high in the first half of the match.
Andre Russell, on the other hand, was the team’s standout performer, smacking 39 runs off just 14 balls. David Wiese was also clinical, remaining not-out for his valiant 31 off 15 deliveries.
Bulls bowlers were hammered, with only Dominic Drakes picking up three wickets for the team. The rest of their bowlers failed to get a wicket.
Bulls’ batters were a touch too slow in reply, with none of their batters were able to go hard at the bowlers, and they were only able to score 122/5 in 10 overs and lost the match by 17 runs.
The Gladiators’ standout bowler was Russell, who bagged two wickets. Odean Smith, Wanindu Hasaranga and Tymal Mills each struck out a batter. Smith, however, was adjudged as the player of the match for his all-round performance.
