Five-time Asian Squash champion Danish Atlas Khan brimming with joy on being conferred with the country’s third-highest civilian award, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in a Pakistan Day ceremony on Saturday.
Danish, who won a whopping 35 Gold medals, 20 silver and 16 bronze medals in his decorated career, extended his gratitude towards the Government of Pakistan for the recognition.
“First of all, I am thankful to the Almighty Allah for blessing me with such respect. I am very proud that the Government of Pakistan awarded me with the Civil Award.
“Thus, I would like to thank the government and the President of Pakistan for recognizing my achievements.

Notably, Danish Atlas Khan, who is the youngest athlete to win a gold medal in the history of the Asian Games, is eager to take Pakistan back to its lost glory in the sport.
“I will continue to strive and hopefully regain the lost stature of Pakistan in the squash.
“To achieve this Laurel, I played squash for 24 years and represented Pakistan for 20 years all over the world.
The former Pakistan No.1 Danish Atlas Khan then went on to thank his father coach Atlas Khan for his unconditional support throughout his career.
“I worked hard day and night while my father and coach Atlas Khan supported me to achieve this.”
