COVID-19 outbreak causes Heat-Sixers contest to postpone

CARRARA: The Big Bash League (BBL) franchise – Brisbane Heat rocked by a devastating COVID-19 outbreak, with 12 players testing positive for the virus, preventing the team from competing against Sydney Sixers.

The BBL is struggling with a COVID-19 dilemma after 12 Brisbane Heat players tested positive, leaving the club incapable to deploy a playing-XI for tonight’s match against the Sydney Sixers. After returning with 12 positive cases, the side has been forced to search for replacements.

Due to the postponement, Perth Scorchers will play the Sixers on Tuesday night, while the Heat will play the Sixers on Wednesday.

Cricket Australia (CA), however, issued a statement that the Heat will still be playing their fixture against Melbourne Renegades, tomorrow.

It is apropos to mention here that the clash between the Scorchers and Melbourne Stars was also postponed last week, following the COVID-19 outbreak in the Stars’ camp.
