DALLAS: Devon Conway scored a quickfire half-century before bowlers led Texas Super Kings to a comfortable 17-run victory over MI New York in the seventh match of the Major League Cricket (MLC).

Opting to bat first, the Super Kings posted a commendable total of 154/7 on the scoreboard with Devon Conway standing out with a brilliant 74-run knock.

The home side had an unwanted start to their innings as their skipper Faf du Plessis (8) fell in the third over with just 20 runs on the scoreboard.

Conway then put on brief partnerships with Cody Chetty and David Miller before finally perishing in the 17th over.

He top-scored for the Super Kings with a berserk 74 from just 55 balls, laced up with eight boundaries and a six.

Following his dismissal, his countrymate Mitchell Santner took the reigns of Super Kings’ batting expedition and played a crucial cameo before falling on the penultimate delivery of the innings.

He scored a brisk 27 off 13 deliveries, hitting a boundary and two sixes.

For MI New York, Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada bagged two wickets each while Kieron Pollard and Rashid Khan struck out a batter apiece.

Set to chase 155, MI New York’s batting lineup faltered and could accumulate 137/8 in the allotted 20 overs.

The visitors, after a poor start, lost wickets at regular intervals which halted the flow of runs and thus they fell just 17 short despite having enough firepower down the order.

Their opener Shayan Jahangir scored an anchoring 41 off 38 deliveries and hit five boundaries.

Jahangir’s knock had put MI New York in command for the pursuit before Mohammad Mohsin got rid of him and skipper Kieron Pollard on back-to-back deliveries to give the Super Kings an upper hand.

MI New York lost the momentum in the run chase and the failure of their hard-hitting batters further pave the way for the Super Kings to register their second victory in the ongoing MLC.

Daniel Sams and Mohsin picked up two wickets each for the Super Kings while Dwayne Bravo, Zia-ul-Haq and Rusty Theron made one scalp apiece.
