Congratulations pour in as Arshad Nadeem creates history for Pakistan

KARACHI: After his remarkable feat at the Commonwealth Games 2022, praises and appreciation have poured in from all quarters of the country for the star athlete Arshad Nadeem as he claimed the gold medal for Pakistan in the men’s javelin throw final.

The President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, former premier and Chairman PTI Imran Khan, and other notable personalities of the country heaped praises and congratulated the javelin star on his historic achievement.

“Congratulations Arshad Nadeem on making history in Javelin throw and winning Gold Medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Nation is proud of you.” tweeted the President of Pakistan.

“What an amazing news to wake up to early this morning! Arshad Nadeem has done Pakistan proud by winning the first gold medal in Commonwealth Games. His consistency, passion & hard work hold lessons for our youth. Congratulations Arshad on your brilliant achievement.” wrote PM Shehbaz Sharif on his official Twitter account.

Pakistan Army also extended congratulations to the gold medalist while COAS called him a national hero and the pride of Pakistan.

“General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS congratulates Arshad Nadeem for creating history with his exceptional performance in #CWG setting a new record. ‘Arshad Nadeem is pride of the nation and our national Hero’ COAS.” wrote Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on its official Twitter account.

 

Meanwhile, former PM and Chairman PTI Imran Khan shared a video of Arshad’s epic final throw of 90.18 metres which set a new Commonwealth Games record and bagged him a gold in the event.

“Congratulations to javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for overcoming injury & winning the Gold for Pakistan plus setting a new Games record with a throw of 90.18m.” wrote Imran Khan in his tweet.

Furthermore, national cricketers including Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam also lauded the javelin star for his inspirational win despite an elbow and knee injury.

“Salute to you my brother #ArshadNadeem for bringing another gold for Pakistan in #CommonwealthGames2022. You made the nation proud.” tweeted the skipper.

It is worth noting that Arshad is Pakistan’s first gold medalist in Commonwealth Games athletics since 1962 and second in the ongoing Games after weightlifter Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt.
