GLASGOW: Pakistan’s Fatima Zahra bowed out of the Commonwealth Games 2026 with a bronze medal after losing the 60kg semi-final to Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh on Friday.

Despite the loss, the 22-year-old became the first woman boxer from Pakistan to secure a Commonwealth Games medal.
Zahra confirmed her medal after beating New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson with a unanimous points victory. All five judges awarded her the bout, guaranteeing her a bronze medal under the competition’s format, in which losing semi-finalists receive bronze.
Fatima controlled the three-round bout from the outset, winning 29-28 on four judges’ scorecards and 30-27 on the fifth to complete a commanding performance.

The medal marks a historic achievement as the Pakistan women’s boxing team made its international debut only 10 years ago, in 2016.
Following the quarter-final, Zahra had said the victory was a sign that they were heading in the right direction.
“We are developing in boxing, but it’s the sign that we are going in the right direction,” Fatima said.
“This is our first step. We are hoping for the gold as well, and this medal will mean a lot for Pakistan boxing as well,” she added.
