‘Running Man’ statue to be installed at Gaddafi Stadium ahead of Champions Trophy

LAHORE: A massive iron statue of a ‘running man’ is set to be installed at the entrance of the iconic Gaddafi Stadium here ahead of the highly-anticipated ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

The 25-foot high, two-ton iron structure, statue has been built on the special directives of the Government of Punjab as part of the ongoing stadium renovation process.

The ‘running man’ statue will be installed at the entrance of the Gaddafi Stadium near the Nishtar Park Sports Complex.

Designed to capture the energy and motion of a cricketer in full sprint, the sculpture was completed in just 18 days and is expected to become a key attraction during the tournament.

To further enhance the fan experience, the statue will be illuminated with different colored lights, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the eight-team event, which is set to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.

It’s worth noting that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly finalised the schedule for the opening ceremony and promotional events of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

According to reliable sources, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given final approval for all planned events, with high-profile dignitaries expected to attend.

The first major event will take place on February 7 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is likely to be the chief guest.

The celebrations will then move to the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, on February 11, with President Asif Ali Zardari expected to attend.

The main Champions Trophy opening ceremony is scheduled for February 16 at Hazoori Bagh, Lahore, where top government officials, legendary cricketers, and ICC representatives will be present.
