Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, whose remarkable performances at the FIFA World Cup 2026 turned him into one of the tournament’s most talked-about figures, has completed a move to Chilean giants Colo-Colo.
The club confirmed the signing on Monday, announcing that the veteran shot-stopper had officially joined the Chilean Premier Division leaders after successfully completing his medical examination.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper, whose full name is Josimar Jose Evore Dias, has reportedly signed a six-month contract with an option to extend his stay by a further year.
Vozinha enjoyed a fairytale rise to global recognition during Cape Verde’s historic World Cup campaign in North America.
The African nation impressed on its tournament debut, advancing beyond the group stage before suffering a narrow defeat to eventual finalists Argentina in the Round of 32.
The experienced goalkeeper played a central role in that run, producing a string of standout performances as Cape Verde held eventual champions Spain and two-time World Cup winners Uruguay to draws during the group phase.
His heroics between the posts quickly made him a social media sensation. Vozinha’s Instagram following exploded from around 50,000 before the tournament to approximately 29.5 million followers following his performances on football’s biggest stage.

According to Chilean media reports, the goalkeeper could make his debut for Colo-Colo on August 16 against O’Higgins as the club looks to strengthen its position at the top of the domestic standings.
Ahead of the move, Colo-Colo were also granted permission to allow the goalkeeper to use his famous nickname on the back of his shirt.
Chilean football regulations initially raised concerns over the use of the name, but rival clubs reportedly supported Colo-Colo’s request, paving the way for him to continue wearing the identity that made him a fan favourite during the World Cup.
The nickname “Vozinha,” which translates to “little grandmother” in Portuguese, dates back to his childhood. According to reports, older children in his neighbourhood gave him the nickname after he would become emotional following defeats in street football matches and return home to his grandparents, who raised him.
Before joining Colo-Colo, Vozinha was playing for Portuguese second-tier side Chaves. Over the course of his career, he has also represented clubs in Angola, Cyprus, Moldova and Slovakia.
