LAHORE: Young Pakistani cueist Ahsan Ramzan urged the government to extend financial support for him and other talented athletes of the country while conceding that he couldn’t bear the expenses on his own for participating at the International level.

“Government must assist since I cannot bear the expenses on my own,” said IBSF World Champion Ahsan in a private ceremony held in his honour.

“I might deal with the problems but what about the new players?” he added. “The government should play its part in promoting snooker in Pakistan.”

Moreover, the 16-year-old expressed his desire to enter the professional circuit and hoped that he would clinch a title in the upcoming IBSF World Junior Snooker Championships scheduled this month in Romania.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ahsan rose to fame after he triumphed in the Under-21 World Snooker Championship held earlier this year in Qatar.
